Downscale and sell the house?
Our hoarding mentality and messy home was making it impossible for us to enjoy traveling. If we wanted life at home to feel as light, dynamic and nimble as life abroad we had to get our priorities straight. And get to work!
My first reflex was second-guessing our house. Why, oh why did we buy an old, detached house? For the past eight years it felt like we had spent all our money and energy in renovating this ever hungry, money-devouring monster… and still it didn’t resemble the home I had envisioned so many years ago.
We considered downscaling to an apartment, but changed our minds: there were still too many things we loved about our house. So many things we took for granted. Now the fog finally lifted and the road ahead became clear…
It was time to return home.
With a vengeance!
Chasing dolphins at sunrise
After spending a few days discovering North Bali we decided to try out Lovina’s main attraction: a Dolphin Tour! Sofie is very fond of dolphins and she rated swimming among the friendly mammals high on her bucket list. When push came to shove, she didn’t really like snorkeling. Catching some close glimpses from a boat seemed like an excellent alternative!

New Year’s resolutions
Year after year I am amazed with what you can accomplish in twelve months if you put your back into it. Working towards clearly defined goals is the only thing that keeps me from procrastinating. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and personal growth. This year I doubled the stakes by making two lists: a personal one and one for my little blog project.
Here’s what 2017 has in store for NoMoreMovies…
A big thank you!
… for making December the most successful month for Nomoremovies. Now that 2016 lies behind us, it’s time to reflect on the first six months of my little blog project.
Interested in some facts and figures? Lucky you! From the number of blog visitors to the number of views on YouTube… it’s all here… no secrets! I also want to thank you – my dear readers – for your early support. Putting yourself “out there” can be a bit intimidating, I consider myself lucky for getting nothing but love, compliments and encouraging words in return.
And in all honesty, we are only getting warmed up for 2017! 😉
Pascal got married!
After having taken in some of the beautiful landscapes on the way to Savonlinna, it’s time to start writing again. Here’s a summary of what went down the day of the wedding… A rousing tale of rock churches, party trams, bingo cards, candy bars and speeches on David Hasselhoff.
Too old for this sh*t?
Dear readers, you have every right to be angry with me. Yes, you heard that right. Compare my blog to the Minimalists, Humans of New York or themakeupblogger.com and you will notice that NoMoreMovies lacks a clear message. My attempt at describing a vision and mission ended up being about getting our priorities straight, listening to ourselves, being more aware of the world around us and helping others where we can. Pretty vague, right?
Well, if you lack direction, it is always helpful to stop for a while. Just to look back and see how you got here in the first place. That’s my sole intention for this piece. Looking back at why I started NoMoreMovies in the first place, asking the question: am I too old for this sh*t, or should I keep on going?
Strike & Stroll
As I find myself stranded in the train station again, I decide to take a stroll down memory lane. Literally.
Find solutions, not excuses
There we have it. It’s been two full weeks since my last post. I promised myself this wouldn’t happen, yet it did. The most important things when starting a blog is making sure there is new content. I failed to find the time. Yes, I have some valid excuses: I was sick for a whole week. Damn you, Brie cheese! I’ll never eat you again! (Shakes fist at the universe). The week after that we went camping for a few days with my family and my adorable godchild Magali.
Although they are both worthy excuses, they are still only that: excuses. If we want to make this blog work, as with everything in life, we will have to find solutions, not excuses.
