Determined to free our lives of clutter, we turn to flea markets as a solution. Join us for a 7-part mini-series on selling your stress on flea markets. Today Part 1: Mind the mess
Sofie’s love for dogs led us to “SOS Stray Dogs” in Turkey, an amazing non-profit organization ran by two passionate Belgian women. This is the story of how we decided to take care of a gorgeous stray dog called Lily, while she was waiting for a foster home. A story with a happy end!
No matter how keen I am on making some changes to my life, it somehow feels like all the stuff I own is in the way. It’s blocking my flexibility, my personal growth… Sometimes even literally. If you don’t have any kids, a spare bedroom automatically gets designated as a temporary “junk / stuff” room. Garages, attics or basements tend to fill up quickly too. And we all know that the word “temporary” is a lie here.
Enter the Minimalists. They showed me the way forward and I’ve been looking forward to introducing them to you all ever since I started this blog. So here we are…
As I find myself stranded in the train station again, I decide to take a stroll down memory lane. Literally.
There we have it. It’s been two full weeks since my last post. I promised myself this wouldn’t happen, yet it did. The most important things when starting a blog is making sure there is new content. I failed to find the time. Yes, I have some valid excuses: I was sick for a whole week. Damn you, Brie cheese! I’ll never eat you again! (Shakes fist at the universe). The week after that we went camping for a few days with my family and my adorable godchild Magali.
Although they are both worthy excuses, they are still only that: excuses. If we want to make this blog work, as with everything in life, we will have to find solutions, not excuses.
Not long after our trip to Peru, I stumbled upon music by Xavier Rudd. His music, lyrics and personality immediately struck a chord with me. Xavier is not only a unique Australian singer-songwriter but also an activist. Fun fact for the ladies: in 2008 PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) named him sexiest Australian male vegetarian.
Rudd’s music videos are a tribute to traveling, humanity and nature. His latest album, Nanna, was recorded with the band The United Nations, but he can be an amazing one-man band of his own. I’ll definitely post more of him in the coming weeks and months. He has a diverse repertoire so I never get tired of him. For now, let’s start with one of his most upbeat and accessible song: Come People.

This year I got 35 candles on my cake. It hit me harder than I expected:
I’m halfway there…
When you’re young, you never consider how you are spending your time.
Will the second half of my life consist of more of the same?
Or will I give it a shot to make it more meaningful?
